The A90 GR Supra left the factory with staggered tire configurations across both trim levels. The Supra 3.0 models use forged 19-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport 255/35R19 front and 275/35R19 rear carrying a BMW Star (*) designation. The Supra 2.0 models use 18-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport 255/40R18 front and 275/40R18 rear.
For detailed wheel fitment information including offset recommendations, Brembo caliper clearance, and the clamshell fender constraint, see the GR Supra A90/A91 Wheel Fitment Guide. For quick-reference wheel and tire combinations, consult the GR Supra A90/A91 Wheel and Tire Cheatsheet.

Before You Buy
BMW Star - The factory-spec Michelin Pilot Super Sport carry a BMW Star designation. The GR Supra and the BMW Z4 share a platform and were co-developed and then built by Magna Steyr. The BMW Star means a tire meets the handling, safety, and ride comfort standards BMW requires for their vehicles. You do not need to buy a BMW Star tire when replacing your OEM tires. Any tire meeting the size, load index, and speed rating is a valid replacement.
Load Rating - The factory Supra 2.0 came with Standard Load (SL) tires, (95Y) front and (99Y) rear. The Supra 3.0 came with Extra Load (XL) tires, (96Y) front and (100Y) rear. XL tires have more load-carrying capacity than SL tires for the same load index number. XL construction also produces a stiffer sidewall, which translates to sharper steering response and more direct road feel with the tradeoff being a firmer ride. Whether to prioritize XL on replacement tires comes down to how you use the car and how closely you want to track the OEM spec.
TPMS Recalibration
The GR Supra uses a direct TPMS with battery-powered sensors inside each wheel transmitting at 433 MHz for North American-spec cars and 315 MHz in the Japanese market. After any wheel swap, tire rotation, or pressure adjustment, recalibrate as follows:
- Set all four tires to the correct cold placard pressure (found on the driver’s door jamb sticker).
- Start the engine while the vehicle is parked.
- On the center display, navigate to My Vehicle → Vehicle Status → Tire Pressure Monitor.
- Select Perform Reset and confirm.
- Drive continuously above 20 mph for 10–15 minutes until the system displays “Active” with green indicators.
18” Tire Recommendations
The 18-inch diameter is the factory size on the Supra 2.0 and a popular track-focused downsizing choice for Supra 3.0 owners. The smaller diameter reduces rotational mass and opens access to a wider selection of track-focused tire compounds and lower running costs in both wheels and tires. The OEM Supra 2.0 pairing is 255/40R18 front and 275/40R18 rear. This maintains overall rolling diameter consistency with the Supra 3.0’s 19-inch OEM tires.
The popular OEM+ step-up moves to 265/40R18 front and 285/35R18 rear to fill wider 9.5J and 10.5J wheels. Note this is an intentional inverted stagger: a 285/40R18 maintains a positive stagger ratio and would be the more natural choice for the rear. The pairing is used because 285/40R18 selection is far more limited, though we have included both staggered pairs where combinations are available. Supra 3.0 owners downsizing to 18-inch wheels must verify Brembo front caliper clearance for their specific wheel barrel geometry before purchasing. See the wheel guide for detail.
18” Staggered
Extreme Performance Summer
Track days, autocross, and maximum dry grip for canyon runs. Extreme Performance Summer tires deliver the highest lateral capability but wear quickly on the street and require warm operating temperatures.
Prices updated June 2026. Actual prices may vary.
Max Performance Summer
The optimal choice for spirited street driving and occasional track use. Max Performance Summer tires balance dry and wet performance with reasonable treadlife and cover both daily and track duties without the replacement frequency of Extreme Performance Summer tires.
Prices updated June 2026. Actual prices may vary.
Ultra High Performance All-Season
Ultra High Performance All-Season tires provide year-round capability without sacrificing meaningful dry performance. Anything beyond light snow demands dedicated winter tires on a separate set of wheels.
Prices updated June 2026. Actual prices may vary.
The Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus earns our recommendation and Continental helps their own case with a solid selection of sizes. Both the Conti DWS and Michelin Pilot Sport AS lines are perennial favorites among consumers.
18” Square
Square setups allow full front-to-rear tire rotation, significantly reducing running costs on track-driven cars and allowing more even grip as tires wear. Aggressive street square configurations start at 18x10” typically with 275/35R18 or 285/35R18. Track square configurations step up through 18x11” and 315/30R18. All front square setups must pay particular attention to fender and strut clearance, with camber demands and tire choice sensitivity increasing with wheel and tread width.
When picking a square setup for the A90 chassis, there is a push and pull that takes us below the ±3% rule of thumb for replacement tires. Front clearance is at a premium which leans towards a shorter overall diameter and narrower width. We then think in terms of the difference between the OEM front size as well as the OEM rear size. The table below shows more combinations than our typical ±3% calculator results to extend in to shorter sizes than normal, but are setups run by the A90 track community.

19” Tire Recommendations
The OEM Supra 3.0 staggered pairing is 255/35R19 front and 275/35R19 rear. The popular step-ups are 265/35 F / 285/35 R and 275/35 F / 295/30 R. Like 18-inch sizes, there are a plethora of permutations to explore. See the Staggered Pairings appendix for additional pairings and stagger ratios.

19” Square
While less popular than 18-inch Square setups on the platform, 19-inch square is not uncommon for the same benefits of full front-to-rear tire rotation. All front square setups must pay particular attention to fender and strut clearance, with camber demands and tire choice sensitivity increasing with wheel and tread width.

Tire selection is more limited in performance compounds compared to 18-inch sizes, but there is definitely availability across performance categories.

Winter / Snow Wheels and Tires
If your GR Supra is a one-car solution, a dedicated winter tire on a separate set of wheels is the best approach for a rear-wheel-drive sports car. A narrower contact patch cuts through snow and slush more effectively than a wide summer tire. A practical A90 Supra winter setup is an 18x9” square at conservative offsets with 245/40R18 or 255/40R18 winter tires.

Important Fitment Notes
Wheel Width and Tire Fit: A 265/35R19 mounted on a 19x9” wheel behaves differently and has a different sidewall shape than the same tire on a 19x9.5” wheel and will affect clearance. This is especially important to keep in mind for front axle fitment on the A90 Supra.
Load Rating: The Supra 3.0’s factory tire specification calls for Extra Load (XL) ratings — 96Y XL front, 100Y XL rear. XL tires carry more load capacity and have stiffer sidewalls than SL tires of the same size. Whether to maintain the XL spec on replacements is a choice based on use case, but one to actually make a decision on. See Before You Buy above.
Suspension Height: Factory ride height provides maximum clearance. Lowering will move borderline fitments into contact territory, particularly for the range bound front axle and wide rear setups with regards to contact of the inner fender liner.
Front Fender Arch Limitations: The A90 Supra’s clamshell hood IS the fender. The front arch lips cannot be rolled or pulled. Aggressive front fitments that produce contact against the plastic liner can be addressed by offset and width choice, adding negative camber via camber plates, or carefully trimming the plastic liner. See the A90 Supra wheel guide for details.
No Spare Tire: The GR Supra does not include a spare tire or a spare tire well. The trunk houses a Mobility Kit (12V air compressor and puncture sealant bottle).
