The 21” Arachnid 2.0 wheels are exclusive to the 2026+ Model Y Performance. The Model Y Performance runs a staggered fitment of 255/35R21 front and 275/35R21 rear with Pirelli P Zero PZ5 summer tires. This guide covers what came from the factory, what matters when replacing them, and what to consider for seasonal or all-season alternatives. For 18” Aperture wheels see the 18” guide. For 19” Crossflow wheels see the 19” guide. For 20” Helix wheels see the 20” guide. Have a 2020–2025 Model Y Performance? See the Gen 1 21” guide.

The Arachnid 2.0 ships with a staggered fitment of Pirelli P Zero (PZ5) in 255/35R21 front and 275/35R21 rear. The Pirelli’s feature their PNCS acoustic foam liner and T2 Tesla designation on both axles.
| Tire Model | Performance Category | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Pirelli P Zero (PZ5) | Max Performance Summer | 98W XL F / 103W XL R, Tesla T2, PNCS acoustic foam |
| Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3 | Performance Winter / Snow | 98W XL F / 103W XL R, Tesla T0, winter wheel package. PNCS acoustic foam |
The T* designation means the tire was tested and certified against Tesla’s noise, ride, and range standards, and that the tire manufacturer paid for that certification. You do not need a T* tire to replace your existing tires and you do not need to replace your tires with the factory spec Pirellis.
Before You Buy
Load index. Use XL-rated tires with a minimum 98 load index front and 103 load index rear. Standard Load tires in 255/35R21 and 275/35R21 carry an insufficient load index for the Model Y’s weight. All tires in this guide are XL-rated.
Acoustic foam liner. Of all four Juniper wheel packages, the Model Y Performance’s Arachnid 2.0 wheels make the strongest case for an acoustic tire. Foam-lined tires dampen internal resonance and can make a meaningful difference, particularly on coarser pavement. Look for the foam variant of a tire if road noise is a priority: Michelin labels them “Acoustic,” Continental uses “ContiSilent,” Pirelli uses “PNCS.” Most tires in these sizes will not have an acoustic foam version available. Be aware that foam inner liners complicate plug-and-patch repair and many shops will decline this work. Many owners specifically choose tires without foam when replacing the OE tires and notice little difference in road noise.
EV-specific tires. You do not need an EV-specific tire model as long as it meets the appropriate load specifications. Non-EV-specific tires will often perform better in traction categories at the expense of longevity or efficiency. There is no single best tire for an EV. Choose based on whether handling, traction performance, or efficiency matter more to you.
Staggered fitment — no rotation. The 255/35R21 front and 275/35R21 rear sizes cannot be rotated. Rear tires will wear faster than fronts. When buying tires, verify your chosen model is available in both 255/35R21 and 275/35R21. A fitment friendly alternate stagger is 265/35R21 front and 285/35R21 rear for slightly more contact patch at the cost of added rolling resistance.
Summer tires in winter. Do not run the Arachnid 2.0 with summer tires in winter. Summer compounds lose grip below 40°F and become a liability below freezing. For owners in cold climates, the proper solution is a second set of wheels with dedicated winter tires.
TPMS. The Juniper Model Y uses direct TPMS with BLE Bluetooth sensors integrated into the valve stem assembly. When tires are swapped, the valve stem and sensor stay in the wheel — the sensor is never disturbed. Your shop may charge a small fee to inspect or replace the valve stem seal, which is normal. You should not pay for a new sensor on a standard tire replacement. After the swap, recalibrate via Controls > Service > Wheel & Tire > Tires, choose your exact configuration, select Reset, and drive over 15 mph for a few minutes.
Spare tire. The Model Y Juniper does not include a spare tire or tire mobility kit. An optional tire repair kit is available separately via the Tesla Shop. Tesla roadside assistance is available 24/7 through the app.
Summer Performance
The factory Pirelli P Zero (PZ5) is a Max Performance Summer tire, and this is the natural category for the Model Y Performance. Summer tires deliver meaningfully better dry and wet grip than any all-season, sharper turn-in, and shorter braking distances. They should not be used below 40°F.

Ultra High Performance All-Season
If you want to retain serious handling capability while gaining year-round usability, Ultra High Performance All-Season tires offer sharper turn-in and better grip than grand touring all-seasons while retaining an M+S rating for light winter use. These eliminate the need for seasonal swaps in milder climates.

The Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus earns our recommendation. Both the Conti DWS and Michelin Pilot Sport AS lines are perennial favorites among consumers.
Grand Touring All-Season
Grand Touring All-Season selection in Model Y Performance sizes is narrow. These tires prioritize longevity, quiet running, and winter confidence over handling sharpness, a difficult fit when lower profile tires are optimized around cornering stiffness. Most Model Y Performance owners will be better served by the UHPAS category above or by a summer tire paired with a dedicated winter wheel and tire setup.

Winter
For owners in climates with real winters, the proper answer is a dedicated seasonal swap. The stopping distance difference between a dedicated winter tire and an all-season on ice is significant, and the staggered profile makes it worse: almost no snow penetration depth on either axle, plus an inability to rotate means you absorb the full cost of accelerated rear wear on an already expensive set of tires. That being said, performance winter tires are available in the factory sizes and the factory winter wheel package features the Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3 with PNCS foam and T0 designation.

Mounting and Installation
A few reminders for the Model Y:
- TPMS sensors stay in the wheel. The BLE valve stem-integrated sensors are not disturbed during a tire swap. Do not pay for new sensors. A valve stem seal inspection or replacement is normal.
- Recalibrate TPMS after the swap via Controls > Service > Wheel & Tire > Tires. Choose your exact configuration, select Reset, and drive over 15 mph for a few minutes.
- Tires cannot be rotated. The staggered 255/35R21 front and 275/35R21 rear fitment means no front-to-rear rotation is possible. Replace each axle pair independently when worn.
- Lug nut torque spec: 129 lb-ft (175 Nm). Confirm your installer knows the torque spec for your Model Y and has properly torqued all lug nuts.
- No spare tire included. The Model Y Performance does not include a spare or tire mobility kit. An optional tire repair kit is available via the Tesla Shop. Tesla roadside assistance is available 24/7 through the app.
